Bhutan is small country (38,394 sq. km) located on the southern slopes of the eastern Himalayas, sandwich between China in the North and India in the South. With a population of just around 756, 7019(2014), Bhutan is renown and famous for the “Gross National Happiness or GNH” concept; conceived by the 4^th King of Bhutan. Its people content and happy!!!

Bhutan is also known to the outside world as the Last Shangri-La, perched high up on the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayan range. Its people, with a unique culture, tradition, architecture, peace and tranquility live in this unpolluted habitat. This makes the kingdom a unique Travel destination.

Bhutan government strong policy of “High Value, Low Impact” makes it the most exclusive travel destination in the world. It enjoys a reputation for authenticity, remoteness and a well-protected cultural heritage and natural environment.  Bhutan has strong policy on conservation of environment, promotion of cultural heritage and safeguarding sovereign status of the Nation. Bhutan is rated Role Model as it has communicated its goal of remaining carbon neutral in the future Thus promoting itself as a high-end tourist destination.

Although Bhutan is a small country, it has extreme varied climate and seasons (four seasons- Spring, autumn, winter & summer) with altitude ranging from 97 m to 7570 m. It has thus rich and diverse flora and fauna. With pristine environment, more than 72% of the Bhutanese Landscape under forest cover, because of which Bhutan was considered to be one of the Top 10 Global Hot Spots. The Bhutanese traditional reverence for nature has protected its environment and rich cultural heritage – still richly intact. Rich flora and fauna are yet to be explored. When other countries are losing their own culture and tradition, it is thriving in Bhutan, because of which many tourist around the world desired to visit Bhutan. It is the last surviving Mahayana Buddhist state in the world.

 Television and Internet was introduced for the first time in 1999. When rest of the world fight for democracy, democracy was forced on the people by the King in 2008. This reflects the unique and true nature of its people and leaders.  As Bhutan moves forward and opens its door to the outside world, the responsibility of balancing tradition and modernity falls on the younger generation.
